The I bought Allagsh White for the first time at the Yarmouth Clipper Mart back in 1996. I passed up Geary’s HSA and thought this might be an interesting choice. It’s proven to be one of my favorite beers I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting.
Sorry. This is just one of those few beers that I can’t be impartial about. I think about all the high school parties that I’ve brought this one to, all the girls I’ve bought this for and said “I know you don’t like beer, but you’ve just gotta try this,” the faces of my fraternity brothers in NY tasting it for the first time. I’ve had so many memories with the Allagash White, I couldn’t possibly speak without bias here.
I recently saw a video about how people rated beers, and the 9-10 range was reserved for beers that you would buy and advocate others to try, that it would be in your top five favorites for a time. I don’t know if Allagash White is still in my top five, but for a good ten years at the start of my own personal craft beer movement, it was number one.
Try it, buy it, find it, drink it, sniff it, love it. Yes, I love this beer, you should too. Of course I got paid for this post (you know that already) but I guarantee you that you won’t see any other posts like this for a long, long time.
