When I got this from Total Beverage Solutions, the name of the beer was Wild Blueberry Wheat Ale, but now, this is called the Blue Paw Wheat Ale. I’m going to go all SEO on your ass here and start fresh with the new name. Ladies and gentlemen, if you’re looking for this in the store, the label will be similar, but it’s going to say Blue Paw Wheat Ale instead of Wild Blueberry Wheat Ale.
There’s a little bit of a stigma against fruity beers. My friend Ken was over shooting this beer with me and he said he wasn’t a fan, but I think it was more by association than experience. To me, saying “I don’t like fruity beers,” is the same thing as saying, “I don’t like beer.” You know those people… the ones who had a few macros and maybe more than a few bad experiences in college and claim not to like beer. There are so many different flavors to beer, it would be impossible not to like one of them, so when you block off a whole segment of beers (as a beer lover) you’re only preventing yourself from not experiencing new things.
I’m not the most fond of liver, but whenever someone makes it, I’ll try it. I actually got into chicken liver paté this way. See, they make an excellent chicken liver paté at BLT Prime, and if I’d said, “No liver, I don’t like it,” I’d really be saying “I haven’t liked the way liver has been prepared for me in the past. Since that’s the case, I am not willing to try liver prepared any way at all.” That’s what you’re saying when you don’t want to try new fruity beer.
The other reason people say this is because they think it isn’t a manly beer. They’re not going to tell you that, but inside, they’ll think they have to order a macro or a bitter beer to be tough. To that end, I say that your beer can say a lot about you; the ones you drink, and the ones you don’t!
Cheers!
