One of the other benefits to drinking beer for a living is all the cool glassware you get. I just got a bunch of Affligem and Weihenstephaner glasses to pour these beers into on camera. I didn’t need six of each glass, but that’s how they come in the box, so that’s how I got them.
I started throwing out the glassware in my apartment that I don’t like. My roommate doesn’t seem to mind/notice.
After a drunken night at the bar, she’d left with a thin walled 8 oz. tumbler and was pretty proud of the heist. I figured that if you’re going to steal a glass from the bar, at least steal a good one. She countered with the fact that this was the glass that she was drinking from when she left the bar. I guess there isn’t a whole lot of thought put into taking glassware from the bar, huh?
Weihenstephan is the world’s oldest brewery, and the name “Korbinian” is an homage to the Abbey’s founding Monk, Saint Corbinian. How old do you think this brewery is? What do you think might net you that title? 1400 AD? 1200 AD?
Try 768 AD.
Wow, there’s some real history there. We had a genealogist trace our family history back to the Battle of Hastings. That’s 1066 and I thought that was a long time to be able to record something, but this takes the cake. I guess that when you buy a Weihenstephan, you can find out what 1300 years of recipe refinement tastes like.
