What the heck is going on with my upload this morning? I know I’m late, but I’m on West Coast time now! I’m at the Craft Brewer’s Conference meeting some industry folks and making great contacts!
River Horse Lager is an undesgebundt hefetrope and I know I am spelling this incorrectly. I don’t have the bottle in front of me, and I’ve tried a bunch of different spellings on Google and can’t come up with a single search result. All I know is that the word that starts with the U means “unfiltered.” No idea what the word that starts with the H connotes. I do know these guys were at Get Real NY this weekend, so they had a few unfiltered and unpasteurized offerings there.
A lot of people try to do beers the “traditional” way. There’s a couple theories on this. One theory is that after a thousand years of trial and error, people figured out the way something tasted the best, then over the last hundred years or so, all of that thought was thrown out and replaced by macros selling for quantity. The other theory is that we’re now in a time where information is shared so quickly, brewers can see people developing new styles and play off what they’ve just learned, making yet another new style that might be the one to reign supreme for the next two hundred years.
The River Horse Lager takes from both schools of thought. Equal parts tradition & innovation combine to give the market something unique and interesting. It’s not your father’s Oldsmobile.
