I really don’t understand the ratings on Beer Advocate. <- You know I NoFollowed that shiz, playa! Who you think you're messin' with?

I actually nofollow all my links. I don’t think it really benefits me to not nofollow (is that a double negative?) any links I put on my site. Beer Advocate sure isn’t linking to me anytime soon. I have a friend who works there though, maybe I could get her to sneak a link somewhere deep in the site for me.

Back to the ratings. This beer gets a C+ on Beer Advocate. Now, I’m not supposed to rate any beers on my site, but Sam was really happy with this beer when we tried it. Maybe there might be some Jersey stigma attached to that rating. Watch the brothers rate it higher and then all the ratings will go up.

Have you ever noticed that about Beer Advocate? The standard deviation of the ratings goes down after they rate the beer. I don’t know if this is true on every single one, but I’ve looked at few of them and it seems to be the case so far. The theory only makes sense – there are a lot of beer drinkers out there that get a lot of their self-worth from the number of reviews they’ve written.

The other thing about beer advocate is that it doen’t allow for changes in the beer. Allagash Curieux is different each year, but it only has one page. Stone Vertical has a page for each one of its years. What’s the difference, Beer Advocate?
